Our firm is hiring an associate attorney who will support us by conducting legal research, drafting documents, maintaining client files, and assisting with legal counsel. The ideal candidate will have some courtroom experience and strong legal research and writing skills. Responsibilities: • Perform legal research, prepare for and attend hearings or other legal proceedings, and give general counsel under the supervision of senior associate attorneys• Review client issues on legal matters, analyze available options, and diligently work to determine the best course of action• Communicate with senior associates, paralegals, and clients to ensure cases are handled efficiently• Create legal documents, including correspondence, briefs, motions, pleadings, contracts, affidavits, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings• Keep files organized to make sure the most recent updates are accessible to other attorneys, paralegals, and staff• Work alongside senior attorneys to litigate cases from start to finish.• Communicate with clients and their insurers.• Draft motions, conduct legal research, attend court appearances and settlement conferences, take depositions, and attend trial, as your experience level allows. Qualifications: • Willingness to learn from senior attorneys to meet our client needs and grow our client base• Applicants must have successfully passed the state bar exam • Active member of the American Bar Association (ABA)• Completion of a Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law school• Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree and licensed to practice law in Colorado.• Prior experience working in a civil litigation law firm, 2 years minimum.• Experience in construction defect or general casualty law preferred.• Well-versed in legal research software (Westlaw).• Able to work as part of a team, and independently when appropriate, while handling multiple files.• Excellent communication, problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal, and public speaking skills are required.• Microsoft Office proficiency is required.• A high level of pride in your work. Compensation: $80,000 - $115,000 yearly DOE About Company: Founded in 2001, Higgins, Hopkins, McLain & Roswell, LLC is highly regarded for its expertise in construction law and the litigation of construction-related matters, including the defense of large and complex construction defect matters.
